Would a kit for an SR20 fit without too much modification? The reason I ask is because I keep finding great deals on SR intercooler kits and want to know if they'll fit. I know the hotpipe will have to be modified because I am using custom manifold and big turbo, but will the cold pipe be on or close to the CA throttle body?

Thanks!-Ian

I'd like to know too. I wanna try it also. I"m thinking that an S14 setup might work better due to having similar intake mani. setups (hi port)

Yea, most likely the S14 one for the reasons stated above.

but will the placement of the core (and IMO the real priority) fit the same with the S14 kit, over the S13 kit...I know that some of the hotpipe will need to be made, and almost all of the cold pipe will need to be made too...so pretty much those 2 pipes are useless in the kit,

however, check out takakaira.com, IIRC, HKS or Trust does have a kit for the CA18, I believe it was HKS, maybe you can get the part number and talk to a US distributor and see how much they could get it for...

If you have to buy the kit and modify it all to work why not either just A start with a ca18det kit, of which there are plenty (which are pricey) or B just have a shop fab up some intercooler plumbing... if they shop does it they can put the intercooler whereever you want, you can be sure it all fits, and it will probably still be cheaper than either buying and modified a kit or special ordering a ca kit.

the SR FMIC only takes like one cut of the cold piping to make it work, im running a Greddy Vspl for the s13 SR

how much do you think intercooler piping would cost to get made? i really like the idea of having the piping already made and for me to just put it together and in the car as a kit, ya know? and its already polished too :D i like pretty engines.what do you all think i should do?

Well I've seen mandrel bent and welded intercooler piping bent up for as little as 300 bucks, but it just depends on what you want done. And you have to have a shop you trust because those welds can't leak!

You can make your own if you get the bends and mark them and maybe even cut them yourself, which would mean the shop would only have to weld them (or you could use silicone couplers).

If I ever get around to putting an engine in I'm probably gonna use mostly mandrel bends and silicone elbows and as few welds as possible.

Anyone know where I could get some silicone couplings at? I especially need tight 180 bends.

The NPR intercooler I have has the inlets and outlets at a 45ish degree angle from the face of the intercooler and I don't have the resources to have them modified to come out straight.

So what I am going to do is use either a GReddy/Heavythrottle hot pipe from the turbo to the frame rail. Then use a bit of mandrel bent piping from the frame rail to intercooler.

Then from the intercooler up to the throttle body. Piping for the Hotpipe is generally 2 or 2.25 inches, can't remember. And then 2.5 inches up to the throttle body.

Right now I have it mounted behind the radiator and a 1.75 inch hot pipe and a whole mess of connectors up to the throttle. It's super Ghetto Style, but it works for now.

Just FYI for everyone, http://www.takakaira.co.jp has a Blitz LM intercooler kit for $775. Not to bad a price actually. Of course it will be more with shipping...

Jon,

Ask them what it would run me for piping and to have the endtanks changed over too. The stock outlets are like 1.75 now and I want them to go to 2.5 inches eventually. Just tell Joe'e that you know me (and if he still doesn't remember, tell him I hang with Bone and Ryan and the DAWGS :) ) I might make a trip up there then on Wednesday to get it done.

I need this biatch front mounted like a muh fugga.
