saw a picture of this in my magazine. The intercooler sits where the radiator usually sits and the radiator is push back 3 inches.

the top of the IC is flush with the top of the radiator.

I would only do this with proper ducting as I know it will have been moved out of the best airflow path.

A huge upside to this would be that you could easily drop a few feet from your piping. Any input?

I know Ryan runs a setup like you're talking about, or did at one point.

the mishimoto radiator works perfectly. the only complaint i had was when i went to mount my FAL fans. i had to cut a half-circle notch on the fan right by the inlet of the radiator to make sure i could get the hose on far enough to clamp well. but otherwise it fits in the bay perfectly, doesnt leak and keeps temps low!

I've got my radiator in the stock location, but put the intercooler inside the core support, in front of the radiator. Works great, no real heat soak problems that I've seen. I have ducting so the air HAS to do through the intercooler. it works great.

i usually like to modify the stock KA condensor fan, they work great and bolt right up to a mishimoto or koyo radiator. They keep your engine nice and cool

How much heat transfer could there be?

I know the hot radiator's energy will try to transfer to the colder intercooler. But how much can it accomplish?

At idle I could be running both fans pulling air through and at speeds air would be flowing through. How much of the heat would flow against the air force? Would a complete, small gap between the intercooler and radiator help?

driving there would probably be none. even just idling i dont think there would be that much to worry about.
