Im wanting to setup a nitrous bottle and a purge kit and spray down my intercooler before I make a track pass to lower the intake temps. Has anyone attempted this? Also would it be worth it? Could I see much HP increase or is it just a waste of time and money?

Ya, looks like edelbrock makes a decent kit.

This website pretty much sums it up.

I notice a difference in how quickly the nitrous hits when I purge. I have the purge tube pointed at the center of the intercooler and you can tell it's cooling the intercooler down quite a bit. As far as the extra power being from the reduce IATs or the purging of the nitrous itself I'm not sure but, I would guess it's more from the purging.

Do you purge while full throttle or do you only do it before a pass? Do you have pics?

I was only purging before making a pass. Might try purging it in third in the future.

I run an intercooler sprayer and it makes a big difference. You can see dry ice form as it sprays.

I built my kit from scratch with parts I bought off Ebay.

You will need:

Nitrous/co2 tank w/ valvePressure gauge(optional, but nice)Nitrous solenoidIntercooler spray barNitrous lines to hook everything up

You can also buy a kit from Nitrous Express and several other companies, but I found it to be cheaper just to make your own.

The best part is, if you decide to run nitrous later on, you'll already have half the parts installed.

have you thought about doing the water-to-air pre-cooler setup instead ? that way you can have youself an ice water canister full for chilled air.

Hmm Honestly I don't think I have heard of that. Unless your referring to the water cooled intercooler setup?

sci2000tech, When you say it makes a big difference, Little more detailed, What kind of track times (if you have run any) Did you received after the install?

My RB is never running long enough to make it to the track

When I'm driving in the AZ summer and its over 110 degrees outside(like it is right now) my car runs on the hot side. If I get stuck at a light for a long time, I will see my temps start to rise. That is when I will spray, and I can literally see the temp gauge go down.

I have also had the relay for my electric fans go out and the nitrouse is probably the only reason I made it home without blowing a head gasket.

No track time to back it up(yet), but the temperature change is very noticeable. I think it would be good to spray before, and especially after a pass to bring the temps back down.
