I have been looking online for carbon fiber and aftermarket vc's for the rb25det and can't really find anything to my taste. the rb26 has almost unlimited options. I am wondering if the two are interchangeable, and if so are there any modifications to be made to get them to fit?

Topic has come up a few times. If I'm not mistaken (and I may be) they will all interchange. I kind o wish that all the RB26 covers did not say RB26 on the timing cover. I think the valve covers/timing cover on the 26 are much nicer and move the vents to the backside of the valve cover. Just looks a little cleaner IMO.

I would love to throw some 26 cover's on my 20 but don't wanna hear all the B.S. about being a 26 poser blah, blah, blah......

Looking through japanese websites, I have found a set of clear ones that DON't say RB26 on the timing belt cover. http://www.rinkya.com (it's the yahoo verison of ebay for japan) and there's all sorts of stuff on there. I don't want to hear the BS about being a poser, so the nissan twin cam 2500 plate is going to be proudly displayed in its rightful place. a lot of the auctioneers there say the don't ship internationally but everyone has their price...

Just grind off the RB26 on the cover. I did it for my setup.

I thought the "RB26" was stamped into the timing cover. I didn't know you could just grind it off. I kinda feel like a dumb@ss now. Thanks for the info. Now I'll be looking for some of those sexy covers when I have some extra cash. I will however find a cool way to show that it is actually a "20" so please keep the "poser/whatever" comments to yourselves.

what is the rb26 coil pack cover made of???

i was thinking of making a custom aluminum coil cover so that i could powdercoat it the same as my valve covers....

I did not want to be accused of being a poser either...

minivan_don,The center cover appears to be made of the same material as the valve covers. I would say an aluminum alloy of some sort. There may be another fancy term for it though.

So can the RB26 vavle cover can be swapped onto an RB20? if that's the case, i think i might do it. And no, i don't think it's poser at all. as long as the "RB26" is grinded off the timing cover, i see no problem with it. I think it enhances the look of the engine. As long as you're not putting GT-R emblems all over your car or telling people it's a 26, then i think it's fine, imo

Yes, the valve covers from the RB26 can be swapped onto the RB20/25's.

do you have pics of it installed? does piping form the stock intake mani clear the covers, or do you need an aftermarket one? and what's the going rate for 26 valve covers?

I'm sorry, I was under the impression that the VALVE covers were interchangeable among the RB motors but the TIMING covers were not, unless you change the timing PLATE which may give you the wrong timing marks for your motor.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

I was under the impression that you could keep the original timing belt cover.

Ironically the same people who make the poser accusations are the non-skyline owners. I was in Orlando the oter day seeing a friends and some jack*ss in a prelude had the audacity to say that my car is not a real skyline. Like he would know. I'd still run laps around his POS but didn't even entertain his dumb*ss.

You got my curiosity up on the insalled question. While the covers do bolt on, you cannot use the stock cross over intake system. As for going price? No clue on that one.Stock RB20 setupStock RB20 setup with RB26 valve coversTo use the RB26 front cover, the RB26 back plate must be used. There is a tab on the 26 cover that will have to be cut off. Here you can see the height difference between the cam coversThe plug covers cannot be interchanged with the cam covers either
