Hey, I have a 1986 Nissan 300Zx(T) Auto/ 2+0 Red coupe / Non-Leather interior 186k miles. I have just recently sold it to my brother for 500 and I'm currently trying to fix it up. I had an accident about 4 months ago on the front left tire and trying to fix it up. It has a broken tension rod, 45 degree bent transverse link (control arm), broken strut and broken sensor (for adjustable suspension). Luckily, my Anti-sway Bar is good, rack-and-pinion seems ok (outer tie rod end, no bends or cracks to my knowledge), the arm knuckle, caliper, rotor, brake line, tension bracket, etc. all good. I'm a newb to cars and did me best to take it all off (which I did) and just realized the hard part just started.
My question is what suspension parts are interchangeable from 84-86 from 2+2 to 2+0? I know 87-89 control arms are 10mm longer than 84-86 and gives a positive camber of 0.4 degrees Link: http://z31performance.com/archive/index ... 22958.html
What about a control arm from a 1986 ZX NA 2+2? The only reason I'm doing this is because I found one on RockAuto.com for $105 and comes with a ball joint and its from NA 2+2.It's going to be a daily car for non-track / non-racing etc. Just got this from RockAuto.com so far:
1986 NISSAN 300ZX 3.0L V6 Turbocharged
BOSCH 64002 Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator
MONROE 901329 Lift Support (2)
MONROE 901704 Lift Support (2)
MONROE 73229 Strut
VARIOUS MFR NI1323103 Outside Mirror Glass
1986 NISSAN 300ZX 3.0L V6
AUTOSPECIALTY / KELSEY-HAYES 0851203 Control Arm

Is there a post related to this that could possibly help me out? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Based on what I read, Evil and AZ-Azbum seem to be the most knowledgeable people. No offense to anyone at all.

Thanks AZHitman, just read your Forum's FSM and found it useful. It seems the Tension Rod and (possibly) the Control Arm are interchangeable (could be wrong). Hopefully, I did get the right strut since in another website it says it will fit a (T) and the stroke is just an 1/8" off. As for the rod and the piston diameters of the strut, will just need to call them for the specs. I'm good for now, thanks!

How do I delete this post? Sorry, don't know how to do that,, :chuckle:

A little more to it than you've stated.... Ask AZHitman. I know the components.

AZ ZBum would know better than I. Honestly I've never touched a Z31 2+2. I thought the lca's for the 86 were the same as the 84-85. I can tell you that the later tc rods can be swapped in. I tend to mix parts that aren't supposed to mix. My 87 N/AT has 87 lca's with 86T knuckles with 87 NA aftermarket strut inserts with machined gland nuts.

Suspension components between 2 seater NA and 2+2 are identical, except for the springs. EVERYTHING else is the same for the corresponding year. Almost everything from 84 to 86 is exactly the same.
