So, to start, I have a '93 N/A 2+2 with a blown motor and not too straight of a body. Can explain more later, not sure what parts of the motor are salvageable. Anyways, I'm about to buy a '91 TT 2+0 and am curious as to what's actually interchangeable, as far as stuff like body parts, suspension parts, brake components, ect. As well as what the differences are and what parts may be stronger.

For example, I know the diff in both cars is pretty much the same except for the gear ratios, and that at a certain year the changed the caliper material on the brakes, among other things.

Now I'm asking because I'm thinking of swapping the rear subframe, and power steering pump to eliminate the hicas system, but don't know whether I wanna keep the TT diff or use the N/A, it all really comes down to the gear ratio I suppose, if it's even possible to do what I want. I've already deleted the rear wiper on the N/A and don't wanna have to do it again if I can just swap the hatch. Possible?

Just list what you can as far as major components like that please. Just no motor components, I know it's mostly all swapable but don't wanna tear down an engine for an inferior part.

Can swap the whole rear subframe assembly to eliminate the HICAS, remove all the lines and all other parts, swap ps pumps as well. Gear ratios are different and will make a difference of about 15mph off your top end but you won't notice that unless you're pushing the power to get there.

Hatch will not swap as most 2+2 and 2+0 body panels are not compatible.

Coil packs are the same I believe.

Upper intake should be the same.

Do not believe the heads are interchangeable, the valves were heat treated dofferently for the tt, even though your na heads are probably 40p. Wouldn't be bad to keep them if you want to get head work done while the tt is still running. Fast swap.

transmission on the na is inferior.

There really isn't much unfortunately. Especially with the 2 seater and 4 seater.

transmission is the same except the bell housing is different and Speed sensor. If you do swap the rear end, get your Speed Sensor of the NA, that will solve the MPH difference.

As far as body panels, the front fenders and front bumper are interchangeable, correct? I'll just redo the hatch if it doesn't swap, worth a shot.

For the diff, which one would be better for acceleration and/or strength? I want the quickest take off possible without killing my rear end.

As for the transmission, the N/A transmission is an auto, where as the TT will be a 5sp, so no swap there.

The motor in the N/A is blown too, not sure how bad, or what parts may be good. Started with a lifter tick and turned to rocks when trying to limp it home, then kablam, motor shuts off, coolant all over the ground, no oil spillage. [dafuq?]

Good to know about the coil packs, although I think the TT has fresher coil packs so might be a bad idea to swap those, but will be keeping the ones from the N/A as emergency replacements.

Woot for the upper plenum, although I was fairly sure it would swap. I'll be pulling the N/A's for modification and paint to later be installed on the TT. Coolant bypass, deburring, easier injector pull mod, oversized throttle body mod too. If you think of any other plenum mods I could and probably should do while I have a spare, please inform me.

I know i'll be pulling and using the N/A rear subframe now, to eliminate the hicas, but idk about the N/A diff.

All lights are interchangeable too right? Would be nice to have a spare set to play with at no extra cost.

The NA rear diff is geared for better take off and from a physical strength standpoint should be actually stronger than the TT.

Once again, another woot. Although if I swap the rear diff, keeping the TT 5sp trans, I'll have to get a custom driveshaft, correct?

not a custom but you will need a different driveshaft. the part of the driveshaft that bolts to the diff is different between the N/A and TT. you'll have to find a driveshaft from a 2+0 N/A 5spd

You're on the good side with what you want with the TT being stick and the NA AT...the NA AT diff is the best takeoff set available (4.10 gearing IIRC?) although as mentioned the top speed is decreased. You can simply swap the NA sub with diff into the TT after deleting the Hicas lines and stuff, bolting the NA tie rods to the Hicas ball joints and aligning for toe.

IIRC as mentioned the front end, nose panel, hood and fender exterior parts are the only interchangeable body panels other then perhaps tail lights and panel and spoilers, as the rear bumper is different apparently same as the hatch and doors and door glass. Not sure if the T-Tops are different but assume they are since the door glass is different, but the windshield, windshield cowls, mirrors and other minor parts possibly will work.

All mechanical parts are the same except driveshaft and a few other things not coming to mind.

That covers my experiences with Z parts and interchangeability!

Hmmm, Interesting. Not entirely too concerned with top speed, I'm more concerned about acceleration and take off. I have my reasons.

I'm glad about the front end, cause I'd like to transfer over the front end of my N/A onto the TT, although I don't know if I'll even be able to remove the panels.... I have an aftermarket front bumper installed "seamlessly". Was done before I bought the vehicle, but I like it. Little curious of other interchange parts, as in minor parts from one nissan/infiniti model to the z, like I know the J30 uses the VG30DE as well, and has a different style of intake balance tube, would it work and still perform correctly for the TT?

I've seen the J30 balance tube used and like the idea of opening access to plugs 5 and 6 with it, I believe Artic Dragon has done this to his NA race car project and I've seen it used on an ITB VG as well. I think you have to do some modification to it but can't recall that detail, sorry....hunt up Artic Dragon's project I think he does detail that in his thread.
