hey,

i have a 1981 datsun with a z22 2.2L 2wd. the truck is not a problem at all. As a matter of fact its a freakin beast. My problem is i have about a 20 minute drive to work on the high way at about 70mph everyday. my little 4-speed just ain't gunna cut it for daily use. I'm trying to find out what year and model of other nissan trucks/cars have 5/6 speed trans' that will bolt up and what the differance in drive shaft length will be. any help will be greatly appriciated.

The J16, L18 and Z22 use the same tranny. the tranny from a240ZX or 280ZX would work but you would need to lengthen the front half of the drive shaft 4 inches as the tranny from the ZX is a short box (its designed for ihgh rpm and high hp), where as the tranny for the Z22 is designed for low rpm, high torque.

I'm not sure, do not think so. PIEZ or dogred would know if the ka tranny bolts to the z or l engine.

Only the usual, gearbox mount and drive shaft. You may also have to alter the entry into the cab but that is not normal.
