Hello all,
I could use some help. I have a 2002 Pathfinder (second gen obviously) and it's fantastic. The only real issue is comfort though, stemming from the flat, hard seats. I had a thought the other day, what if I could just get front seats from a QX4 and put them in it, since there a little nicer? I found a local auto salvage yard that has two 1998 QX4's, and they sell seats for $30. I still have 3 or 4 concerns though that I'm hoping to get some help with!

1.Will the QX4 seats bolt on in the same place with no modification? (as far as i can tell from pictures, the brackets are identical in both cars)
2. Will the power adjust, and seat heater connect the same, and still work?
3. I've seen things about side impact airbags, and about them being located IN the seats (there are tags that say "SRS Airbag" on the seats). Are there airbags in the seats? Will they go off if I disconnect them etc? and will the QX4 seats' airbags still function?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated and I'd be happy to post pictures of my connectors or whatever if it helps!

Welcome to NICO.

The seats should interchange without a problem, but I am not 100% certain since a '98 is pre-facelift and '02 is post-facelift and there are minor interior differences. Wiring harnesses for the power seat and heated seat harnesses should be identical as well.

The airbags are in the seats, yes. As long as battery power is disconnected they will be fine to disconnect.

Why are you concerned about the donor QX4's airbag system, aren't they in the junkyard?

Thanks so much! As far as I can tell, the seats and related equipment stayed the same through the facelift, so I should be all set!
Sorry I wasn't more clear about the airbags. I meant, if I find QX4 seats with the airbags still intact, and I hook up the airbags and seats in my pathfinder, will they function in a crash?
Thanks again!

If your Pathfinder has side seat airbags as an option, they should work, but I can't guarantee that due to potential differences between the model years and the possibly different airbag module.

If your Pathfinder does not have seat airbags, it is theoretically possible to retrofit them if you also install the satellite sensors in the A-pillars and swap the airbag module, but I would not attempt this unless you find a Pathfinder / QX4 of the same model year +/- one year.

Let us know how the QX4 seats are if you decide to do the swap!

I'll be happy to update! And my pathfinder does have seat airbags so for $60 it's more than worth a shot!
Thanks again, mega helpful!

Are you sure the QX4's seats are any more comfortable than the Pathfinders?

Also, do they not have "Infiniti" embroidered on them?
