Okay, I'm been following the current convo about Raising the Compression on the KA, and i have a question. I've recently seen advertised High Compression Pistons for the KA24DE, but they were advertised as "High Compression Pistons for The Altima". Am i wrong in assuming that since they are pistons for a KA24DE that they would fit the 240. I can see no logic in not assuming so. And while we're on the subject, i'v read that a popular way to raise the Compression in the KA is to use the Pistons from a KA24E. If anyone out there has done this, i would like to ask where would be a good place to find these pistons. Did you guys buy them used and have them "Refurbished", so to speak, if you got them New please be kind enough to show me where i can get them for a good price.

I have a set of 8.6:1 SOHC pistons that came out of my 90 coupe with 190k miles on it for sale for $75. These would make 11.1:1 CR in a DOHC motor. Comes with wrist pins, rings and circlips. They are in excellent shape but you would still want to get new rings. You can get new pistons, check out http://www.flatlanderracing.com and look for the KA24E.

You can get your new pistons milled at a local machine shop to get the compression that you want.

Do you think that these work on the 240's KA?

I don't see why they shouldn't

They would work, but I wouldn't guarantee 32 extra hp from it.

They are 89 SOHC pistons. The picture is "for illustration only." And realistically you will see a 4-5% HP gain for every point of compression raised. In the case of a DOHC (9.5:1 CR), you might expect to see 13-16 HP increase (at the crank) with the 89 SOHC pistons, but you would not even be able to use 93 octane gas, you would need race fuel. The 90 8.6:1 SOHC pistons make 11.1:1 CR and would yeild 10-12 HP WITH NOT OTHER MODS. And you would be able to use 93 octane pump gas with no problem.

Again, i have the 90 SOHC pistons with rings, wrist pins and circlips for $75 for the 4, if anybody is interested.

Im in no hurry to sell them, they've been sitting in the box my forged JE pistons came in for about 2 months now. Another week wont hurt. :)

Just realize that you will be rebuilding your engine in order to install new pistons. You would want to pick up a complete engine gasket set, possibly a new timing chain kit, oil pump, water pump, ect. And you would really want to pick up a set of new rings, since mine have 190k miles on them. I understand the rings for a 99 Altima are the best (get them new!). You wont be able to increase the bore size, but you would want to get the cylinder walls re-honed in order to break in the new rings.

And my email is located in my profile, check out my car at the link below too!
