Hello guys!

For a 2009 Murano S, is there a way to get an intelligent key after the car has been purchased? I thought all 2009 Murano comes with the standard intelligent key.. I didn't realize it comes with the technology upgrade.. but is there a way to get one that will work with the basic 09 Murano S? Doesn't the system already installed in it that you just have to get an intelligent key for it to work?

Umm...all Murano's do come with the I-Key system - you have a push button start, right?

You don't have to put the key into the slot to start the car. Lol, did the dealer tell you that? Because you don't have to - the slot is there incase the battery in your key ever dies...

---yeah, i try to just step on the brake and pressing the start button but the console is telling me to insert the key in.. maybe my murano is not equipped with the intelligent-system at all? it's a 2009 Murano S.

It sounds like something is wrong with your key...either the battery is dead or the system isn't recognizing your key for some reason...

You should be able to just simply get in the car, hit the brake and hit the start button - that's how all of the push button starts post 2007 have worked for Nissan's...

I would try changing the battery in the key fob and then seeing if that makes a difference...

...if not, go back to the dealer to have them look at it.

It would be very expensive and probably not worth the effort.

O wow, I just looked more into this - the base model Murano doesn't have the I-key like the rest of Nissan's lineup...

Wow WTF? That's not cool...

And yea, trying to get the system installed would most likely be very expensive to do...

If they sold you the car and told you it would have the I-Key system than that at least warrants a discussion. If you purchased the car and have had it less than two weeks I would go back and talk to the dealer. I'm not sure if they would be willing to do anything about it unless you have proof of the promise. It may not even be possible to install the system in a Murano S, but a reputable dealer might be able to offer some help (i.e. split the cost or something). You'll never know until you ask.
