I only received 1 intelligent key, 1 manual key, 1 emergency key. I need at least another intelligent key for my wife. Is there somewhere else besides the dealership to buy one? Is the dealership the only place that can program it for the car?

The I-key does have to be programmed by a dealer (not necessarily yours...) because of the complex nature of the I-key. You could probably purchase one on ebay or somewhere else, but ultimately you are going to have to take it to the dealer to be programmed.

So, I assume my warranty won't provide for me to get a key programmed without paying for it? I guess what I'm asking is if I have to buy an I-key, would programming the key be part of the purchase cost or can I stroll in with the key and ask them to program it since I still have warranty left? Hope I don't sound like a dufus here.

Did you buy your car used?

Normally a new car comes with 2 keys...as it should.

You do have the option of buying a key on your own and bringing it in to them to be programmed, which would be done as a charge.

If you were to buy it through them, I'm sure the price they would quote you would reflect the key and progamming fees.

Either way, the keys are not covered under warranty unless they were to malfunction - the fact that you are missing one does not fall under the warranty umbrella.

Appreciate the reply. So eBay or the dealer. I'll look into it. I got the car used with one of everything in the form of keys. So I really need an I-key and a manual key then.

how long ago did you buy the car? My used car only had the one I-key but they promised me another. I had to "remind them" that they owed me another one, but they finally got me one.

Maybe because mine was "certified"

Just got it a week ago. The dealer is trying to get in touch with the previous owner to get it. No promises from their end though to offer to buy me a full set. Priced out at Infinity quoted $500!!!!

yeah.. but you bought it from the dealership, not "the previous owner" right? probably should have made that part of the "things the dealer will do" part of the contract

Well, unfortunately, the keys were revealed to me after the contract was written. I wish I had thought to ask of that info before, but it never occurred to me. It's been over 7 years since I bought a used vehicle. So I'm a tad rusty at asking all the questions I would have normally asked.

GAU-8: I have the same situation. I did some searching online and found an outfit that sells my key and have since placed an order. They also claim they give instructions on how to program the key yourself, which I'm not sure about, but as I've checked with the tracking number, should be here today. I'll post back on successes or fails.

Thanks

Got the key delivered today as I was hoping. Too bad it was a fail in regards to being able to program the remote myself. The key looks fine, but using the programming instructions out there, they just don't fly for my G37. I'll be dropping by the dealer to see about getting the key programmed is the next step.

I also bought a G35 off of E-bay with only one intelligent key. I just received a quote from Infiniti in Cleveland of $224, (only $59 for the actual key) a $165 programming charge, which is where they will get you. I am going to check a Nissan Dealer as Infiniti could not tell me whether or not Nissan could do it!

My local Infiniti dealer said $140 for the remote, $120 for the blade, $120 for the manual key, $120 to program the system.

Wow, the break down that I got was $36 for remote, $29 for manual key and $165 programming. You would think the dealers would have set prices! I will let you know if a Nissan dealer can do it for less, as I am going to one for an oil change on Friday.

Not sure why such a drastic difference in price, but I did some searching on Feebay and found a new remote with an uncut blade and a manual key for $55 total. Not I just gotta get them programmed.
