I am planning on replacing the factory installed radio with a Navigation System. The only problem is in order to get the Intelligent Key I have to upgrade the radio that I will be taking out. Does anyone know where I can purchase something similiar to the Intelligent Key and have it installed? I love the idea of the Intelligent key, just hoping to save a few bucks. Thanks,

I'm not familiar with intelligent key systems but I am not sure they work through the radio. I would assume they work only with the vehicle power locks and ignition system, unless the radio has some tamper system that imobilizes the radio and vehicle, and that is some integrated to the intelligent system? The guys at work that have fancy sports cars with DVD players and TV's in their cars say that their expensive electronics do have a theft device, so that if it's torn out, it won't work in some other car until a security code is entered, but none of them have the intelligent key system either, just the standard lock/unlock/panic type remotes. Good question though, and I hope you can upgrade to the nav you want without it interfering with the intelligent key system.

In talking to the "Car Toys" guys they say that taking out the radio will not interfere with the Intelligent Key. I am just wanting to know where to purchase a RFID Proximity system for my car (if there is even one available) and where to get it installed. I'm thinking the best option is to get the Intelligent Key and just deal with having to take out my "upgraded" radio...oh yeah and I will have extra buttons on my steering wheel that have no purpose since my blue tooth will be connected through the Nav system.

You may be able to retain use the steering wheel pushbuttons. Many curent Nissan's and Infiniti's can be retrofitted using a variety of aftermaket systems. They have applications for the most current Nissan's and I assume the Rogue would be no different. Note: not all headunits are supported.

Changing the headunit should be fairly easy as it appears to be a standalone unit. The only difficulty is the factory unit is not a standard double DIN and you will need a bezel/trim piece to fill the gap between the unit and the curved dash. Aftermarket suppliers may take a few months before something is offered, otherwise a good installer could possibly fabricate something.

As for intelligent key/keyless start systems, I have not seen any aftermarket systems and quite honestly I don't know if it's even possible. I would stick with Nissan's intelligent key.

I know this is an old thread, but as an FYI the "add-on" guy I was speaking with at the dealership told me that they can't do aftermarket Intelligent Key, though they could do Bluetooth (just not controlled through the steering wheel).
