You had to have it towed? There is a physical key inside the iKey fob. Did you know that?trrek wrote:I am a recent victim of intelligent key troubles while away int he countryside in Jamaica. The story goes that I went to the country and parked unknowingly between a radio transmission poll and a cell tower disguised as a palm tree. Upon trying to restart the car I got no response from either the mechanical key nor the intelligent key:( . Residence informed me that this had happen before with other model cars but they eventually worked. I had to tow the car from that area and even then the iKey and its mechanical key did not work. I had to ask someone to retrieve the spare key from home in the city. Even when I move away from the area both keys still were not recognized by the car. The spare key worked when someone brought it from home, Thank God!! . Any ideas on why and how to re-activate the Ikey and the its mechanical key insert?
The mechanical key cannot start the car - it can only be used to open the door when the battery in the I-key is dead.trrek wrote:I saw that in a post somewhere I think you may have been the one that posted it. I bought my i-Key from courtesyparts.com. I will call them and check it out. However, I think that there maybe a greater issue here as the mechanical key that accompanies the i-Key could not start the car either. I had to tow the car away from affected area (with the 2 transmission towers) then get eh spare mechanical key from home which was never in the vicinity of the towers. Then the car started and I drove home without any glitches. I am at a lost as to why the mechanical key did not ans still isn't working.
Uh... I've used the key to start the car many many times...marlin29311 wrote:The mechanical key cannot start the car - it can only be used to open the door when the battery in the I-key is dead.
Can you take a picture of where you put your mechanical key? I'd love to see it, considering any car with the push button start doesn't have a slot for a physical key.Andrews Chalmers wrote:

How does the physical key not work? Unless there's a problem with your ignition it should work.trrek wrote:Yes sir I know about the Physical key and that did not work either:(. believe mi i tried. Thanks for your reply though
First, please realize you are in the Versa forum. We don't have push start. We have to turn the knob where a key would normally be in order to start the car with the iKey. If the iKey is not working, then there is a place in the knob to insert a key.marlin29311 wrote:

No. I will not take a picture. All Versas has a twist-turn ignition.marlin29311 wrote:
