Any of you Y34 M owners have a gap on your fascia, spoiler where the Intelligent Cruise Control sensor is located? All the photos I have seen look like they have a piece that goes all they way across. Was the ICC an option? I'm just curios. It looks kind of funny like there is a broken piece missing.

After looking at the 03 owners manual, I would have to say it was option because the owners manual say' "If Equipped"

My 2003 M45 does not have ICC ... just "normal" cruise control.

So I guess I was correct in assuming that it was an option.

Yes, I think you are correct ... as I recall, it was part of the "Tech" package option.

Interesting tidbit: in the Service Manual, the "normal" cruise control is called the "ASCD" (Automatic Speed Control Device) and the laser-based is called the "ICC" (Intelligent Cruise Control).

Seems silly that they use "cruise control" as part of one acronym and "speed control device" in the other(?) "Cruise control" is a common term in automotive lexicon that everyone is familiar with!

BTW, according to the Service Manual, the laser for the ICC is located to the right (viewed from inside the car) of the license plate mount, below the bumper region, inside the opening in the lower part of the bumper. It is visible from the front (then it becomes to the left of the license plate) ... if you want a diagram from the Service Manual, let me know!

Also, on an ICC-equipped 2003 or 2004 M45, there is another small switch (slider?) next to the cruise control buttons. This switch sets the distance for the ICC to keep to the car in front ... it apparently has three positions (Long, Middle and Short).

I don't have ICC, so I cannot take any pictures of the elements!

I'll post some photos later of what the sensor looks like in the front.

Very odd.
