Man you can answer so much by searching! Look and you will find what you seek. I was searching on this forum for 4 years before I even became a member.

i'm putting my battery in the trunk and custom making one where the filter will sit where the battery was. should make for some gains, being how much shorter and straighter the tube will be

I am doing this same thing, except that the filter will be below the battery tray. I will cut a hole. No point in keeping the filter in the engine bay, where no cold air is available.

there is a write up on this in the installs section.

http://www.240sx.org/links/ins...x.htm

he tells you to use a breather filter on the smal pipe next the the throttle body, you have to run a hose to that from your intake after the MAF. if you put a filter on it instead, your car will run stupid freakin rich, drops of gas spitting out your exhaust. i did this and it took me several days to figure it out. also, try to use something besides pvc pipe. it looks cheap like that. if you put the battery in the back instead of the other side it also makes the engine bay look nice.

wasnt i the one who helped you fix that? either way that write-up has a horse**** intake on it.... the ram isnt nearly long enough to make useable power. Most poeple over look the intake ram length calculation....

a more usable length would reach all the way to the fender wall

plus there is no reason to put down having the fender in the engine bay. on s13s you can cut out the area behind the headlight and make a cold air box. the box is the single largest improvement i saw on EVERY intake ive ever made, on this 240 adn on all the POS i put intakes on.

It's poopy but heres a picture

the only thing you have ot imagine is a removed and winked headlight, and the sheetmetal behind it cut out and leadign to the cold air box

total cost of build = 45 dollars

the newer AEM ones that come with the dryflow is pretty nice. the intake is 2.75 inches and where it goes over the radiator, the pipe flattens while the 2 ends are round. i dont never saw the injen, but i think its round all the way through and not oval across the radiator liek the aem is.

ya i think that was you. i woulda never figured that one out. i tried to get pipe like yours but the place i was trying to get it from kept screwing me over and telling me it would come in later, so i eventually gave up. and it looked like ***.

I made one that goes up behind the bumper cover. I have a 1st Gen RX-7 radiator so I have a bit of room on the passenger side. I just welded some pipe and pulled the MAF wires out of the harness and rerouted them. The MAF and air filter are right behind the bumper cover. I don't have the bumper support anymore so I didn't have any issues with space. I don't think I got any power gains from it, I was just bored.

that is an interesting paget that explains intake theory along with basic physics.

I just put an Injen intake on my car and i really like it. It is a lot quieter than my gutted airbox and K&N filter set up that i had, but does make a very nice note when you jump on the gas.

the only thing i did not like about it was the fact that if you have the PAIR removed, you only have one mount point to the chassis to hold it inplace. especially if you run efans or just plain dont have a fan shroud. So, i just left the bottom half of my stock gutted airbox in place to act as a support. Look ghetto, but works just fine. And the bend in the pipe is a little high so it just barely makes contact with the hood.

Other than that, it is a really well made intake. Machine welds, easy to figure out how to install in case you can't see the pictures on the directions.
