I have a 1990 nissan 300zx twin turbo. have a few questions though as I want to start moddifying it. I want to make as much horsepower on STOCK internals. I dont want to have to touh the inside of the motor, so I will be doing mostly bolt ons and reducing rotational and unsprung mass as well as cutting weight. If I was to do cold air intakes, full exhuast straight from the engine, test tubes instead of cats, high performance sparkplugs, and a complete new turbo system, what would be the highest amount of horsepower that I could get out of the engine SAFELY. I dont want to blow anything up. What kind of numbers would I be looking at there? is there anything else that would increase power other then what I have listed here?
any insight would be much appreceated.

other random questions that need answering
what exactly is a Jim Wolf Technology's pop charger? is a pop charger any better then just a good old fashioned K & N air filter?

I need a full exhaust system. I want test tubes instead of cats as I know they increase airflow dramatically. Does anyone know of any brand names that offer a full sustem? I would like to mix and match as few brand names as possible to achieve this goal. But I have had a terrible time trying to find headers for the twin turbo version 300zx. also, what is the name of the pipes that connect the headers to the catalytic converter? am I right when I say the order from the engine of the exhaust system is: headers, midpipe, test pipe/cat, muffler, exhaust tip?b how important is back pressure? is bigger piping always better then smaller piping when it comes to exhaust? up to a point of course, obviousely a 10 inch exhaust pipe would be useless.

thank you for reading this I knhow it is very long please answer as many questions as you can because I am losing sleep over all this!! thank you

lots fo stuff to covers here, the max power you can get with stock turbo's is aroudn 400 whp, the max power you can get on stock internals is a bit trickier, 500 whp is safe with propepr tuning, 600 whp can be safe with propper tunign any mroe and you are pusing the limits of the non forged pistons and rods

a jwt pop charger is different in that the adapter is also a velocity stack so it flows a bit better, might see a couple more hp than the k&n model

exhaust manifolds (thats what they call headers on a turbo car) are nto cheap and only a few makers exist, Z1, ultimate z, czp all sell all the parts you are looking for and then some, for your goals I suggest getting the z1 power package taht best suits your needs and budget, and I recomend you opt for a zemulator or similar as real tunign will be safer and yeild more power than an off the shelf chip

the pipe coming out of the turbo is called the downpipe not the midpipe, and on the TT thats where one of the 2 cats on each bank resides, the test pipes will replace the second cat on each bank, megan is cheap and good quality and they sellt he downpipe test picp package for cheap, although honestly the power gained fomr goign wiht no cats is minimal, might see a 10 whp gain and will save a few lbs but the car will always smell right as there is no cat to burn off the excess fuel and you'll notice black suit on your bumper and ground near your exhaust

z1 and czp have power packs with all the BOLT ONS you need but if u want more than 400rwhp and you are going to drive it often i would get a basic rebuild pack(forged pistons, rods, and arp main and head studs to be safe) the rebuild pack is only 1200 dollars which is very cheap for all thoses forged goodies(better than blowing up the whole motor cheaper investment)

ps u will need a dual pop intake sytem to pull more then 500rwhp.....

What is a dual pop intake?
How do velocity stacks work?
