I was wondering how hard it would be to replace the intake valve seals on a ka24de. i've heard that you had to pull off the head and go from the under side with a valve puller? b/c im smokin oil and i just hope that its just an old intake valve seal. anthing would be great

if you can rotate the pistons to be at TDC (top dead center) then no you dont...but you will have to remove the cams..couse while your there you might aswell replace all of em..the hardest part is the valve lock removal...you might need to make a tool if ya dont want to spend the coin on the corect one...i made mine that used the cap bolts and went acrosed the head with part of a C-clamp to force them down...after you remove the valve locks and springs..then its a matter of pliers to get the old ones off...before you install the new ones...add a little cam lube..i like (torco cam lube) you will need this anyways for the reinstall of the cams..or a similar product...put the lub just around the inside edge..this makes it easy to push the new ones on with your thumb or a long tube..as your valves will be in....i have kinda pics up on my myspace man..follow the links..and you can see the valve stem write up..and allso read the blog on putting back in the valve locks,,as that part sucks...hope this helpd.

if ya look at my pics..you will see the valve seals are covering the valve stems(brass looking fitting the valve goes throu)..there cake to get new ones on..getting off the oldones (depending on condition) is a pain..the new ones you can push on gently with a deepwell socket...the hardest part of this is getting the valve locks back on..but!!!! (remember to follow the sequence for rem oving and re-torqueing the cam caps)..cam caps are INCH POUNDS..not foot pounds..good luck.

on your myspace pictures the pic w/ the head facing toward the camera, the little shinny ring inside the hole? on the bottem side labeld 1 2 3 4 5 6? hm ok so, remove the cams and the "valve locks" toss the spring aside then pull the valve out. will the seal n valve come out ez? each intake valve i do i gotta measure tdc so i don't drop the valve in the chamber.. gotcha.. sorry im askin so many questions. never really gone down that far into my motor. im only 17 and its my daily driver from school n work. and lol can't i swap the exhaust cam for the intake and gain somethin? since stock cams are like 248/240 ah anwayz.. thanks

im tryin to walk ya throu it so ya dont have to pull the head off..that would cost ya a head ghasket and alot of trouble...anyways..after you take the springs out..you can clearly see the brass colored meatal the valve shaft is stickin out of..on top of that is your seal..its a little steel cap like thing with rubber top and bottom..thats what your replacing...pop those off with pliers..make shure you dont scrape or gouge your valve shafts..after you get them off...just push the new ones on..they should go one easy enough..they kinda feel like there snapping into place when they seat..before you remove your cams thou..make shure you mark your chain and the gears on your cam..so you can put it back in the same place...id allso mark intake and exhuast cams just in case they get mixed up..as sometimes..the intakes are marked like exhaust from nissan..been known to happen...hope this helps ya mane..if theres any more questions..ill try to help further..thats what nicco heads are for!
