intake to valve cover question

hello! i have a 95 nissan 240sx with a short ram AEM intake. i was wondering what the hose connected to the valve cover is for? is it direct air into the valve cover? or does it draw air out of the valve cover?

that is an emissions thing, air (blow bye) comes out of your valve cover and goes back into the intake and gets burned up.

hmm interesting.. does it need to go in there? why cant it just get blown out into the engine bay? does it affect the air in teh intake HP wise?

I doubt it would make any HP if you vent it to the air but that is the main source of all the crap that varnishes up your intake manifold, they make little filters to put on that line, if your interested, then you just cap off that hole on your intake.

Yeah they look like tiny cone filters, you can get and APC one from any crappy auto zone or whatever.

i got one of those filters and it didnt fit so i being ghetto and put part of a sock on it

haha that was what i was thinking i am gonna get a crappy APC thingys, but then if the valve cover is just letting out air then why does it need to be filtered in the first place?

oh you mean the breathers?? ya there cool trust me I rather have the gunk get stuck in the breather rather then going trough my intake, I've seen some nasty breathers b4 trust me they get dirty big time.

but tex2400 says it dont fit, so i will buy one and try it though
