On the injen intake, the filter goes down and sits in front of the radiator. But couldn't the intake veer off to the right where that extra stock intake box used to be on my car. Would this be a cai or is there no airflow there?? I wouldn't mind drilling holes right there to let air flow in but I don't know how this would affect the chassis. Any thoughts?

your probably referring to the short ram air intake which is a smaller intake that is about 2 feet long where everything including the filter sits under the hood. there is less airflow there and less air so suck up to give your baby power. i also have the injen intake that runs down to the front of the car. i have had both on my car(short ram air and injen) and the car runs 100 times better with the injen. you can feel and hear the air being sucked into the engine much better so the full intake is was a better go for me.

No I'm not. Underneath the battery is an empty area. That's what I'm asking about

I had thought about doing this same mod, but had the same question you do. There is a flat metal plate there that seems useless, but I was not sure of the integrity of it minus a 3.25" hole.

I don't even mind small holes to allow air through. But it seems like a good idea for a ram air intake location.

here is a few pics of my intake. a few people here have seen it. it was originally a weapon r short ram added some pipe to it and a K&N filter. the car runs awesome and sounds wicked.

K&N filters dont filter. AEM paper cone is whats up. The engine only takes as much air as it needs. Colder air is all that matters. Keep in mind things like intake velocity.

As tigershardude said..I have the same setup that he does...but I bought mine from Aspec...these intakes are ridiculously loud, especially around 4,500 rpm...After i got my intake put in I could tell the difference in the way that my car pulled off from red lights...i know that here in GA these setup is illegal since it sits in the fender well.

http://www.cattman.com has an intake kit that puts the filter in front of the driver tire, and behind the fog light!

When i got my car it already had a short ram on it but after the car warmed up it wouldnt feel the same off the line or at low rpms. I remedied that by cutting a port in the quarter panel and running backwards fins(like old skool mustang) on the port to chanel air through an aluminum 5 inch air duct (from ace hardware) right up to the mouth of the intake. After about 30 miles an hour nothing but cooler outside air rushes in. I would have to say I maintain 10 plus h.p. Even through heat soak. Worked like a carm.

Sadly enough, Cattman has stopped production on these intakes. tigersharkdude's setup is nice and very similar to the Cattman. At first glance in person, I thought it was a Cattman. +1 tigersharkdude.

Cattman never produced them (from my information). They sold them. Place racing, produced them, but stopped production a while back.
