I certainly didn't have that problem with my AEM CAI.

CAI makes initial throttle response seem slow. In reality you're making more power, but where the power comes in there's somewhat of a surge shortly after you stomp on it.

I guess it just take time to transfer the power to the wheels at times. I noticed that sometimes too with mine if you really hit it, but it prob has more to do with the auto transmission though.

Slushboxes don't help with pick up, true.

CAIs have a lot of volume compared to stock or SRI/WAIs. Thus, initial response can seem sluggish because the velocity of air coming in isn't as high initially. However, if you look at the dyno sheets, power increases are across the board, so it's mostly a matter of power increasing more in the mid and upper range than in the lower making it seem like there's less low end power.

I don't notice the difference due to the AEM until 3500+RPM. Before that it should feel the same as the regular intake(albiet you actually ARE getting more power).
