I have three Questions
1) what is a good intake system for my 2006 M45? How has it affected your performance in your experience? And is it easy install?

2) I wanted to tint my M, but quite honestly the fish bowl effect seems to look clean as well, how does 20% look all around except windshield? Post pics if you a have a smoke grey M with tint please.

3) Does anyone have a link or website to buy the bright LED's for the interior and exterior lighting. And or a lighting chart for the M.

On the main area of this forum..there is a search area. Knock yourself out.

Questions 1 and 3 have been answered 10000000 times. Not to mention there is like a 30 page LED thread (which is also in the FAQ thread stickied at the top) about where to get LED bulbs, sizes, charts, etc.

Come on man...READ.

just saw your thread...I believe a cold air intake will hurt your performance...you may invest in the UpRev (ecu mod) to improve your gas mileage and performance and possibly increase your exhaust tubing and/or get an aftermarket exhaust system.

the tint will look good...were you getting new wheels?? the sport wheels are always great to keep....

I'm all for the new guy. I was a new guy last year myself. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do SOME of the leg work on your own.

Maybe I've been on online forums too long (I'm 24 and have been on them since I was about 16) and have gotten cranky due to all the repetitive threads which ask the same questions...questions that are answered in the FAQ (the whole reason why I created it in the first place). Oh well. It is what it is. Enjoy your stay. Please do use the search function though. It's very handy and by not creating 1000 threads about one topic, it also keeps down the clutter and keeps existing threads more concise and to the point.

My $0.02.

Don't think I didn't do any leg work but honestly I didn't see the "FAQ" . And if ur getting cranky maybe u need to not READ as much b/c apparently it's not just me who repeats questions on this thread. Being apart of a "club" means that you will get newcomers. You have been on the site for a year and get cranky wen a user of 1 week asks a commonly re-asked question. Dude we are new to site once we get the hang of it then you won't see as many repeat threads. Just post an answer or nothing at all. Dont get it twisted I apperciate your knowledge In the subject. But I can do without the cranky s*** I get enough of that from the
ladies in my life. But again thanks for the input.

Thank for you input. I will look into the uprev and exhaust instead.I actually love my stock sport rims but I was thinking of painting them black. What ya think? Interesting that you say CAI would hurt my performance...just curious why that is.

The CAI lost power claim is common and has proven by some dyno result. I for one have a different take on the matter.

If the cai helps reduce the temp intake then it is beneficial to have it on. The injen piece looks nice and will add a nice intake sound to the engine. Now a better mod to me is the intake Plenum spacer either from skunk or motordyne companies. That will ad powAAH and MPG.

Intakes usually don't do much without a tune. As for a plenum spacer, unfortunately that is only for the VQ engine.

I know mine is a little different (Y34) but over the weekend I just changed from the stock airbox to a cone filter and did notice a ~1.5 MPG increase both on the computer and in manual calculations. There was also a noticeable improvement in acceleration and it gave the VK a nice little growl.

Anyone know if the ECU in the Y34 is tuneable by UpRev?

It is, get ahold of your local uprev dealer, they just need the part numbers off of your ECU, so have that handy before you get ahold of them.
