I was wandering if a Short Ram intake is better rather than a Cold air intake.

what do you guys have and what gets more horse power? What brands and what set up do you guys have?

Also I was looking into cone air filters. are ones with the center circle hole better for more air or the ones with the flat front are better (ex: Stillen & K&N)???

Short Ram Intakes are good for low end because the shorter the intake length, the more low end you'll get, but when you're in the high rpm range, you'll lose hp. Same with a Cold Air Intake. You won't notice any gains in the low end, but you will love the mid-range and few gains at the top. You'll also lose some hp with the Short Ram because the filter is sucking in the heat that the engine gives off under the hood. I have an Injen Cold Air Intake and I couldn't be happier. I have a flat bottomed filter and I like that because I always worry about water being sucked up into the intake, even though it takes a whole 2 liters of water in your engine for it to seize up from hydrolock. But you won't see hardly any difference between the flat and open bottomed filters. I get great mid-range and some top end, but what I like about it the most is the sound! When I start the car, you automatically hear the shhh noise of the intake sucking air in. It's quiet during normal driving, with the exception of a whistle at one point in the rpm range, but when you really get on it, it just flat out screams.

I recommend a Cattman/Place Racing if you want a CAI.

If you want a short ram, go with a Frankencar.

***EDIT***

I forgot that some other members werre having trouble placing orders with Frankencar. I emailed everyone that works there, and 3 of the 4 came back undeliverable. I called the office number, and it was disconnected. In the morning, I'll try some of the cell numbers that were listed. I would call now, but it's after 1 am on the east coast.

THNX guys all the info..

I think I will keep my short ram intake but def. will replace the cone cos i washed it with water and now it looks dry and beaten up. I have stillen cone that I will clean out with the oil kit. and put that on.

Plus I live in NY so i prefer the low end gain so I can pull off harder at lights when punks give me the "look".. lol ..

thnx again for the knowledge.
