Short Ram Intakes are good for low end because the shorter the intake length, the more low end you'll get, but when you're in the high rpm range, you'll lose hp. Same with a Cold Air Intake. You won't notice any gains in the low end, but you will love the mid-range and few gains at the top. You'll also lose some hp with the Short Ram because the filter is sucking in the heat that the engine gives off under the hood. I have an Injen Cold Air Intake and I couldn't be happier. I have a flat bottomed filter and I like that because I always worry about water being sucked up into the intake, even though it takes a whole 2 liters of water in your engine for it to seize up from hydrolock. But you won't see hardly any difference between the flat and open bottomed filters. I get great mid-range and some top end, but what I like about it the most is the sound! When I start the car, you automatically hear the shhh noise of the intake sucking air in. It's quiet during normal driving, with the exception of a whistle at one point in the rpm range, but when you really get on it, it just flat out screams.
