Ive searched and looked 10 pages back but can't seem to find the help im looking for. I coulda sworn I saw someone say that their intake gasket was installed backwards and they fixed it by installing a new one the 'right way'. Well, I bought another gasket and which way is the 'right' way?

Also, can anyone confirm this is the problem?

AFAIK, there is only one way to put it on. Which gasket? There are two.

hi.

Yeah, I figured that was only the one way, but one side of the gasket is beveled. Ahh well. It sounds like the rattling is coming from the butterfly valves but I can tell forsure.

It's really noticable though and even though it doesnt seem like anything bad is happening to the engine, but it's just plain annoying

yeah, it doesnt properly line up when its on backwards so its kinda tough to do. i would try and find where exactly the noise is coming from so we can be of more help.

I'm w/Tim, I don't think it's got anything to do w/the gasket.

Ok. Let me inject some intelligence into this thread.

The noise is a rattling PCV valve.

It maybe rattling because of an air leak in the back plate of the intake plenum. Or, one of the vaccuum pipes as come off that attaches to the back of the plenum.

Temporarily remove the PCV and replace with a bolt of same thread. Alternatively remove the back plate and inspect the gasket. The gasket has a hole in it. And the hole should be at aligned to the top of the plenum.

Regards,Chris
