So I hit a racoon and F'd my bumper. its coming off this week so i can do some fiber glassing on the back side. While the bumper in off i would like to replace my air filter from stock to something like a pop charger.

My question is other then the velocity stack/venturi ring. what makes them special?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-9 ... 639wt_1167

This looks like a decent ebay deal but there is no velocity stack/ venturi ring. So could i just buy one and put it in this cone filter?

and are ebay hard pipes any good? or waste of money.

Also what are the dimensions of the velocity stack in the jwt kit

Pipes are pipes, IMO. Well, as far as intake on an N/A is concerned, anyway. That comes with the MAF adapter (without velicoty stack, of course), filter element that seems to be re-usable, hardpipes, silicone couplers, and .......Extra hose for the intake vacuum lines? I wouldn't use those, as they look pretty janky. Also, the silicone couplers look to be 3 or 4 ply (pretty thin and not very durable). I would look into some 6 ply couplers if you want them to last.

My only concern would be how well the filter element does its job. I saw an article published a while back detailing the filtering capabilities of the JWT intake, the K&N, the Apexi, and some other brand, and the K&N and JWT would be the only two intakes I would ever trust my engine with. WAY too much pass-through with the others. However, it is a calculated risk that you have to take. **If it were my car, I wouldn't do it.**

I'd stay away from those cheap kits on ebay. I bought one a few years back for my NA and I ended up replacing everything but the hard pipes. Get some good couplers and clamps from Z1 and the pop charger as well, you won't regret it. Plus I had that filter and it ended up getting soaked all the time in the rain then added extra restriction, not to mention it rusted up as well.

Apexi is the best. Other then that, Ace covered most of it.
