so, i was talking to a friend of mine's dad who is an old muscle car buff and he told me i should do away with all my intake s*** and run a filter right off the throttle bodies. I was really confused and asked a few friends and they had the same idea- ask NICO! haha. so here i am. Would there be any problemsdoing this? it would get my filter out of the ground and keep it from soaking in EVERY drop of water it can. he said it would give me more power (i highly doubt it. :wtf2: ) i dunno. would it hurt to try it? or should i play it safe and just go with my original plan of an Injen CAI? LET ME KNOW NICO!!!!

ok so it's pretty hard to fit air filters on the throttle bodies in the first place, because the hood would smush them lol. the best you can get is dual intakes, one filter for each throttle body. But it's still gonna be under the nose panel. If your filter is properly installed its not going to suck up water, there is a splash shield it bolts to to keep water away. No reason at all to buy an aftermarket "CAI" because our cars already have a "CAI" from the factory. The filter is away from the engine bay, taking in fresh air from a cool source, the front of the car.

Spend your money and get a proper splash shield, then consider a pop charger. It makes no sense to put any filter right off the throttle bodies. The air is much hotter.

Not to mention you'd have to convert to a MAP system, seeing as the MAF goes on the intake piping that he's telling you to get rid of.

Tell him what works for muscle cars doesn't translate to tuners. There's a reason no one does it:

1. It looks dumb on a VG
2. MAF, TPS, and CAS, not distributor and carburetor.
3. It doesn't suck up water anyways. If that was a problem, Nissan wouldn't have designed it that way.
