You can pay over $100 for a noise maker
Or you can modify your stock intake and it performs better than an open filter sitting by your hot exhaust manifold.

The exhaust manifold on a 2.5L is at the front of the motor and no where near the intake. The intakes released have been used on dynos and shown and proven to increase torque and horsepower.

I agree that a cold air intake would be preferred, however, the short ram intakes work fine. They are not going to give you amazing gains, however, they do help.

I had modified my stock intake to make pretty much the same thing. It helps.

I was going to get the takeda sri from 2kracing.com for $205, but found it for $178 at the time on amazon.com, so that's where I got it with free shipping. Actually for the 2.5L, the takeda probably does about 5hp...I don't think it does 9hp but I do feel it helps with fuel economy. I've noticed about a 1 or 2mpg increase in highway driving.

I'm wondering if putting on an Injen or Spectre heat shield would make a difference since the takeda 2.5L does not come with a heat shield. The v6 version does though

I just installed my Takeda today and it was easy. To me it doesn't need a heat shield because the exhaust manifold is for enough away. Some photos

nice photos! Your engine bay looks just as clean as mine as some other have said. I say it's only clean because I had just recently purchased my 09 2.5L in January, so give it like a year and then you'll see a lot of road grime. But I'm going to try to periodically steam clean it.
