Intake question

I got my Injen intake and put it on the car tonight. Love it! It sounded great for the mile or so that I test drove it. Just one question though. Does the duct that brought air in from the grill to the old air box need to be taken off or left alone? I took it off simply because it seemed pointless now that it wasnt really directing air to anything. The reason Im questioning is because I saw in Tyler's pictures that he left his on. Is it ok to leave off or should I put it back?

I left mine on simply because it can't necessarily hurt. I see it as a method for the outside air to get into the engine bay while still being somewhat directed towards the filter. Can't hurt in my opinion

I left it on because it seems to direct the air from the outside into the vicinity of the intake.
