Hey everyone, I joined this forum just to ask this question and I searched before I decided to ask so here it goes, I just put an intake on my friends 1997 maxima SE 3.0L with custom tubes and a K&N filter and now the car will die at idle sometimes, especially after shifting out of reverse. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm pertty sure the MAF sensor is hooked up tight and theres another sensor it looks like a thick black needle that is hooked up the best I could. Is there anything I could be missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Make sure the MAF and IAT are plugged in.

The car is 10 years old, it's possible one of the vacuum lines attached to the intake you pulled off and reinstalled is kinked or cracked and needs to be replaced.

Are those the really skinny tubes by the ones that attach to the valve covers? Because right now those aren't attached to anything.

yes.

Well one is pretty skinny, two of them are thicker in diameter-- about 1" or so. All of them must be connected to the intake-- it should have ports for all 3. If you don't, the car WILL die when it comes to an idle.

One of the tubes goes to your PCV valve, and that has to be connected for the car to run. It connects to a thin metal tube, right behind the manifold, and runs to the intake.

The one towards the firewall definitely must be connected to the PCV. The other one I would also connect to the intake manifold or whatever it's connected to.

Thanks everyone for all the help the reason there weren't any ports for these tubes is the intake tubes were all from autozone they weren't designed specifically for the Maxima and I'm used to cars where all the sensors and things are just connected to the manifold and not to the intake. So thanks again.
