Intake question

i tried searching this but i cant find anything because I dont know what it is... so i ask, what is this and what does it do?

It's supposed to send fresh air into the exhaust to get the cat. converter to operating temperature quicker.

Usually it just malfunctions and sends exhaust into your intake.

so it isn't needed.will the car act up if it isnt connected

Correct. Not needed.

Remove it, make sure to plug the vacuum lines, the hole that will be in the airbox, and the hole in the exhaust.

ummm when i was installing my short ram intake the part of the box that the hose connected to was already broken off before i started to do anything so should i like tape up the hole or something?

dont tape it up that looks tacky..look what corn 322 said..that box, the aiv is not needed so just remove it all together

so what should i plug up all the holes with.... does any of it need to be professionally closed like something welded or is it really simple... i am new to the 240 world so im still trying to learn.. the quirks of the 240..

what i did was remove the part that attaches the pipe to the manifold and cut the pipe..i then jbwleded a quater to the bung and screwed in the screw part in and tightend it down till it woulndt move anymore...been like that for a year and its never failed...and i autox at least once a week....and LOTS of road trips..
