Im about to start buying some stuff for my 240, starting out with a short shifter, then strut bars because those are the cheapest, then im going to air intake and headers and exhaust

what i want to know is, i have a ka24e.. AEM, from what ive seen only has it for the ka24de... and injen is a little pricy.. does anyone know if AEM makes a kae intake?

What brands are you planning on for everything else? Please dont get any generic ebay strut bars.(you will end up wanting something better later, so save up untill you can afford some good stuff) Check ebay for the aem intake, if they dont have it, just give aem a call, if not, get the injen, they are well made and worth the money. btw, nice looking hatch

i was going megan racing for both the short shifter and strut bars.. not generico crap..

i dont need to spend the 180 for B&M, 50 for the megan should be fine and the strut bars are a good deal too at about 30 a piece

and thanks, yea i got it 1500 running and everything.. then ran into some problems.. starter needed to be replaced as well as battery, seat belts died (in the process of getting the dealer to fix them), fuel sending unit fixed so i have a gas gauge.. yea, the usual..

Can people please provide me with some pictures of their Injen CAI installations. I've tried to lay mine in place along the stock equipment and I just want to make sure that the Injen is gonna end up in the right place.

Any level of detail will be appreciated. Please send pics to [email protected] or post here.

Thanks....

How serious are you guys about engine performance? Are you sure you want to sink money into a naturally aspirated 2.4 liter 4 cylinder KA? Are you sure you want to blow $150-200 on an intake system that is going to realistically give you 5-7 hp at most?

If your not to serious about upgrading your engine N/A and don't have the dough to go turbo or swap, I would suggest just having something custom fabed up. Look into a battery relocation kit and have your local muffler shop fab you up a custom intake tube with a mandrel bender. Move your MAF close to your throttle body and use a K&N cone. That way you do it on the cheap with a serious increase in throttle response and better HP gains.

Or... You can do suspension work first while you save up for a turbo kit or swap, which is the best course of action generally for 240s.

Take a look here on how to do a custom intake setup, I would do it with metal piping though, http://www.240sx.org/links/ins...x.htm .

I think the best route to go is tuning your suspension first. If you plan on turning the KA into a KA-t or have an engine swap in mind, definately get suspension out of the way first. You can then start thinking of mods you can do before you turbo that will be safe on your N/A KA. Such as a S-AFC, higher flowing fuel pump, exhaust, possibly bigger injectors (with the use of the S-AFC), etc.

But back to the original question. I do not have any experience with the no name ebay strut tower braces, but from what I understand they flex and don't provide any chassis stiffness. For my KA24de I bought a $20 intake set up on ebay. The kit included some nasty looking blue hoses, clamps, and a cheap filter. I used my own stock hoses and bought a $40 K&N cone filter from Autozone. The previous owner gave me a Injen intake tube so I fabricated my own REAL cold air intake for roughly $80. So I'd say make your own Cold air intake, it didn't cost me much, and didn't take to long to make.

my real question was about the intake.. not that strut bars.. i just threw that in..

my question is.. does aem make an intake for SOHC or does anyone know of any other brand other than injen that does..

K&N still make an intake system that fits the KA24E.... I have an E as well and that was the only one in my town that I could find. I was quoted 230 bucks canadian from my parts store (that's with a 20% member discount)
