Intake plenum gaskets/rings

The "gaskets" that sit between the lower runners and the intake plenum...are they supposed to be a HARD plastic or softer plastic/rubber? I'm pulling the plenum again and think they could be leaking air. Mine are very hard and brittle. I even cracked a couple trying to get the metal rings in them.

They're hard, but not brittle.

I use a little RTV to help aid sealing, but very little and on the outer edge.

They're a very pliable rubber....Using rtv there is not recommended per FSM i believe.

Thank you both. I did consider using something to help seal them since it didn't seem like HARD plastic would seal against metal air tight. I hope I can find them in stock somewhere.
