I agree, that's hilarious... the engine will always sound louder when you free up air to the engine. There's a good way (aftermarket intake) and a bad way to do that. Hell, if you really want to maximize air flow, why not just remove the air filter alltogether, just leave the throttle body wide open, and let it ROAR! You'll get like 100 extra hp that way! lol lol loljohnny_d wrote:i thought you were joking haha, you removed the air tube and let the OEM airbox suck air straight out of the engine bay? and it roars? post a vid coz it's too funny
Ghetto intake FTWD-Roll wrote:So I was curious and decided to remove the front piping of the stock intake to see if I can notice the difference as it were an after market intake. I do have the K&N drop in filter as well. I do notice the same responsiveness as if I had an aftermarket intake. You also get the roaring sound when you step on it Just wanted to throw that out there
On alot of cars were the airbox is behind the headlight, putting a larger intake tube and making large holes on the fender side of the stock airbox pre-filter will give u a "CAI effect" and keep your intake temps down. The placement of the factory airbox on the altima makes the aftermarket intake or custom set-up a better decision.IMOspike228 wrote:This was done with the 3rd gen altima. It was often reffered to as the "free WAI". The only difference is that it didn't really suck in warm air because the opening was on the side, right behind the driver side head light.
It certainly did not give you any gains, but it did sound a bit nicer.
