intake manifold stud prob....

Hi all,

Here is the deal...i'm in the process of taking off the intake mani (vacume leak) and it appears like the stud on the upper plenum (front) is corroded inside the hole in the intake. i know they are different metal so that in itself can cause problems...i just need some advice on how to get the damn thing off after trying the tap of a hammer, alot of wiggling back and forth, some lube, even a little heat...still no go Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated!

can u clarify that a little more? is it where the mani meets the head?

yeah sure...

Its where the manifold meets the head. The stud that passes thru the mani on #1 above the water inlet. To be honest I got the darn thing off finally...well, should i say, free. Lots of penitrating fluid over night and a little tap tap tap. But i still me to get room to remove the top of the plenum. I've been told if you remove the braces from the bottom of the intake you can gain access to what need to be removed and it comes off easier. PLease correct me if i have been mis-informed.

I have mine off right now. I did not remove any of the studs. I removed the bolts for the brackets supporting the plenum underneath.This allows the plenumm to drop down then you can pull the manifold toward the passenger fender untill it clears the studs. Takes a little moving and wiggling but it will pop out.
