i know there's alot of stuff about our ka24de intake mannys on here but if someone can give me some easy steps to removing both upper and lower thatd be great...btw its a 91. some pics would help me a lot too. right now ive got about 8 bolts off the upper manny that connect it to the lower one and the head itself...should i just unbolt the lower one from the block and the upper one from the block, any vacuum lines or anything i need to remove before i do anything else? any help would be great thanx everybody.sam

i've found it easyer to pay someone else to deal with that headache.... j/k, it takes a LOT of work, don't forget to disconnect the EGR (i think that's what it's called) tube off the exhaust manifold. That one took me forever to figure out. other than that, just undo the 6-8 bolts on the head and the 6-8 bolts on the throttle body. have fun with that one!

I know this is old but, I have the motor out of the car and I cant get the manifold off. There are a few bolts on the upper plenum that I just cant reach, So I thought about trying to take the lower plenum off first. Problem though, I have removed all the bolts, I think, if anyone has pics of the bolts that need to be removed to remove the lower plenum I would appreciate it. I cant seem to find anymore. The sucker is on there.

I've found that unbolting the intake from the collector, then pulling the cylinder head off, taking the intake manifold off was no problem. The EGR valve, btw, connects to the collector, therefore it doesn't need to be removed if you're taking the head off(just unbolt the collector from the intake [5 bolts]). For the lower 'plenum', there are three mounting bolts on the underside, five on the top (connecting to the intake), EGR, various small hoses.

The lower part of the manifold is held to the bock by two brackets. That's probably what you're missing. Once you remove the lower part, you can get to the bolts that bolt the upper part to the head.

Where are thses bracket located?I still haven't been able to get the mani off (note the date original post). I haven't wanted to work on it because nothing is working out.

BTW. does anyone know where I can get a *complete* rebuild kit from a RELIABLE person/store?I need a full rebuild kit with timing and water pump.

just get a handy fsm and build one on the side... it wont be more than 1500 in parts unless you go a/m.
