Ok I need your help, who ever can help me solve this problem will have a free dinner. That is how desperate I am right now.

Here is the deal. My car will start fine and run good, however when the engine gets hot it will start to sputter, but not all the time, it will not start when the engine is hot. For a long time I wonder what caused it and then finally the other day I figured out what was causing it.

It didn't want to start so I poped open the hood and was fidiling with it when I placed my hand on top of the intake manifold. That thing was freaking hot, talking about HOT. I figured the heat is messing around with my Throttle Position Switch and that is what is causing the sputtering, but what is causing the heat on my intake manifold?

I have an 89 nissan 240. KA24E engine.

Help.

your not far from me what we havin??? J/k

I am not sure how hot your talking but it is normal for the intake to heat up to almost untouchable at operating temp. but It could also be a restriction in your exhaust or a sticking EGR valve. if the egr were to stick open the car would not start with the throttle in the idle position but would start at about half throttle poistion but if the EGR stays stuck open it will die at idle again. If its a exhust restriction this can be tested with a long peice of vaccum line a vacumm tee and a vacum gauge. hook the gauge up to a manifold vaccum source rig the gauge up so you can see it while driving under normal conditions at idle it will be around 20in of vac and on wide open throttle on hard accel it should drop off to around 5in. while accelerating if the car begins to stummble and your still holding your foot in it look at the gauge see if it starts to rise back toward the 20 inches of vaccum if this happens and you still have the hammer down you have a restriction in your exhuast. both conditions can super heat the intake.

have you performed the vaccum test for exhaust restriction I suggested? Did you replace the egr before or after your problem started? I am in galt just north of lodi.

I replaced the EGR after the problems started. And I will do the vaccum test tomorrow. If you really want to help out I would gladly drive to galt so we can work on it if you are up to it?

would your car even make it this far with out having its problem? I might consider it if the test I told you to do doesnt reveal anything.

Of course my car will make it that far, but it will act up sometimes. I haven't had a chance to do the vaccum test, but hoping to do it this weekend.
