so i am thinking of making a custom intake manifold cover kinda like this one except for this is an exhause heat sheild , but make a cover liek this to cover all the wires and injectors and fuel rail stuff. i think it will make my engine bay look pretty clean. i was wondering if any one else has ever done this and what you guys think of my idea? might even put my own little name brand one it. lol

on the intake manifold you want to keep heat out not in. And there is nothing near the intake manifold that is hot, so whats the point. The only heat that is getting to the manifold is from the head. So you want the heat to escape, not keep it in.

Plus it will just make the engine bay look too crowded. Try making a clean exhaust manifold shield. You might get some buyers from that.

I think it would look nice.

I have a megan racing exhaust manifold all ready so that looks nice. i wantthe other side ofthe engine to look nice.

and i just want to find a way to make the engine bay look clean. cover all the wires.

Also as far as keep ing heat out. it might actually do it. liek a heat sheild for the brake and clutch fuild. crowded huh? i think i will do a photoshop version first and show you what exactly i mean.

If you want to make your engine bay look clean and cover the wires, I think a better idea is to relocate your wires below the manifold. Redo your wiring harness a little. Subtle is key.

And you say like a heat shield for your brake master cylinder....the purpose is to keep the brake master from absorbing the heat from your exhaust manifold. But like I said there really isnt any heat source near your intake manifold. So putting a shield over it is keeping heat in. And that means hot air going into your engine which will decrease performance. Maybe not much but still, cooler air into the engine is ideal.

And if you have a heat shield on your intake manifold, exhaust manifold, etc...I think it will look like too much and maybe tacky. I could be wrong...try it out and let us see it. If you look at pictures of some people's engine bays....the best looking ones are the ones with the least stuff in them.

so i tried sime photoshopping and i suck at it.anhow it gave me and idea of what i would look like and it would either look nice, or it would make the engine bay look really lop sided. so how hard is it to hide the wires under the intake manifold. i pretty much just want to clean my engine bay up nice i got everything pulled back so it is just the motor sitting in the middle of the bay, with everything pulled back, so i can paint it again. but i have seen pictures where you cant see the fuse boxes or wires and i want ot know how to do this. also i went to a car show and i saw a product for polishing aluminum they were demonstrating it on pop can bottems. does any one know what this product might have been? it cam in lieka spray can and then you just used a rag to rub it in. if i could get some of that the n iwould use it to polish the intake manifold.thanks

Please write your posts in Word and spell check before you post. Thank-you.

Polishing an intake manifold is a lot of work, it involves sanding down all of the casting to a smooth surface, you cant just spray some "as seen on tv" products and have it shining.

Wire tucking the Intake manifold isn't too hard. I'm considering removing my IACV and running all the wires underneath the intake runners.
