I just dug a nismo intake I got awhile ago out of storage and am planning on putting it in the Z tomorrow, so although it looks pretty straight forward to me before I get started tomorrow I was just wondering is there anything about the installation I should know about before I try it out tomorrow. I more specifically have a few questions that weren’t really explained in the instructions like if I have to disconnect the battery while installing it and if I have to re-set the ECU after it is installed or if it will just re-learn after I drive it for awhile, I was also wondering if there is anything tricky to note about the MAF sensor since I have never delt with one before and it seems pretty important. Any input before I get started would be helpful, Thanks.

I have the same intake. You don't have to reset the ecu (at least i didn't). Try to keep your dirty fingers away from the MAF sensor. It's pretty much a straight forward install, 45 min. max. Another thing is to handle the air bypass valve with care. It's made from fine sponge material and is easily damaged. Just be sure to watch for anything that might snag it when you're trying to secure it in place. Double check that all clamps are secure before closing your hood. Have fun and good luck!

Thanks for the reply xjmxstac im just about to start in a little bit the only thing that’s holding me up are a few questions that are probably pretty stupid but maybe you can help me, it doesn’t look like there is a place to plug in the MAF sensor in the new nismo tube or am i just missing something? Also do you have to unplug the battery before I start the installation? are there any other little or confusing things you can think of that i could be overlooking? Thanks again.

There are four sets of nuts and bolts that you're suppose to use to refit your existing maf sensor/housing to the nismo tube(s).*edit* That plactic maf sensor/housing that came stock with your car is to be bolted to an aluminum adapter that nismo provides you with (aluminum pipe with a square plate mount on one end).

If you have the resources to do it, why not do a DIY since you're going through the process anyway. Many will find it very helpful. I'm not due to put my CAI back until i'm sure that it's not gonna be raining in SD anymore. But if there is still a spot for a Nismo CAI DIY by the time I put mine back, I would do it.
