Nope. But possibly due to mods make you want to put your foot down more.

I saw a bump in hwy mpg after I installed my R2C intake. Like Biggie said, I would probably see an increase in city mpg if I didn't floor it all the time :)

+1 ^^^

The weekend I installed mine, I took a 300 mile trip on the highway. MPG went up - I was getting over 28 on the highway. But then when you put the hammer down, the sound is so much better than stock, hence lower overall mpg for me as well...so, unless you drive it like gramps all day, and I don't...you likely won't see an increase in mileage

But...we didn't buy this car for its' fantastic mileage, did we?

These cars actually get decent mileage. Not great, but not bad. In an '08 g35x I get 22-23 around town and 28 on the highway.

Is that based upon the car computer or actual calculations?

Sorry Chris, with all due respect, there is no way you are getting 22/23 city and 28 hwy with G35x

I do mostly city driving but some highway on the weekend and average 18. I dont floor it unless im on the onramp. I'll get 28 if im going downhill with the wind at my back.

I don't think we've ever seen much over 22 on the HW in our G35X.
Normally gets < 20 city

The best we ever got out of our 05 G35 sedan was 26.75 on a 300 mile HW trip across NC. It got better mpg than our 08 x

After getting all my parts on a road test showed just under 26mpg hwy. So, I'm getting the rated hwy mileage with the mods on.

Read your posts. Sooo, is there no way to increase MPG at all? I bought a used 2007 G35x that's s'posed to get 16 city 23 hwy. I get between 11 & 15 mpg city which is too dang low. I'm not necessarily interested in increasing power & torgue, but really want to bump up the MPG a few points. Was hoping a cool air intake would do it.

I have no idea what I get in the '07 G35s in city. Highway is between 25-28 usually.

Pressure your tires up to max (see inside of drivers door jam to see max psi settings), keep filters clean, make sure you use decent gas. You could get something like a Uprev and have it specially tuned for mpg, tho that will cost a few bux. Obviously a free-flowing intake won't hurt but in all honesty the factory one is not what you would really call "clogging".

Here's some other common tips: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/how-to ... leage.html

Heh, I see no need to ever floor the thing... However there being a need to floor it and a desire to do so are two very different things ;) . I have noticed an increase in mileage since replacing the stock air filter with a KN panel filter and adding in some Lucas upper cylinder lube/injector cleaner. Really anything you do to the engine to make the air flow in and out better will get you better gas mileage, as long as you dont F/I it or reprogram the ECU for more power that is. I think the real key to better mileage in the G series cars is just controlling the urge to smap the throttle down off of every stop light. Driving normally I average about 20 MPG, anything less and you are probably getting on it a bit much. Parts that will improve gas mileage with normal driving= Intakes/good filters, plenum spacers or aftermarket plenums, Lighter weight pulleys(especially the crank pulley) and any exhaust modifications that allow for better flow(headers, freeflow cats, aftermarket exhaust systems). Also I believe some ECU tuners have an economy setting that will surely yield better mileage at the cost of performance. I prefer the bolt on methods since the power will always be there if you need or want it.

I added K&N panels to my G and didn't notice anything, or I simply never believe a butt-dyno. :)

After the panel filter, Stillen Z tube and plenum spacer the gas mileage seems to have gone up considerably. I will need another week or so to get the solid numbers though since I have been mashing the throttle quite a bit to test power gains through the seat dyno :chuckle: Seems much better though, need less throttle than before to get moving so that must be a good thing.

Z tube and plenum are the main things that are helping you, not the panel filters. The z-tube itself will increase hp and mpg simply due to less turbulence in the tube and the spacer allows better airflow to the front cylinders.
