There are three holes on the intake tube right? What is the third and biggest one, located on the underside towards the throttle body end used for? What tube connects to it? Does any tube connect to it? If I dont know what connects to it can I cover it up?

That's just a resonator. Yeah, you can cover it up. I believe the resonator bolts to the fan shroud. I don't really remember, because I haven't had the resonator or the factory fan shroud in a long time.

nvm, I found that the bottom black part of a film canister works just great in plugging up the hole, when I did I noticed a significant amount of hp gain :D and the engine ran smoother

The big gaping hole isn't a resonator...DUH!!!

The thing that's suppossed to be attatched to the big gaping hole is a resonator...DING!!!

I thought that was pretty self-explanitory, but I guess not.

Want to know why your engine has more power and is running smoother now?

You were letting in lots of air that was unmetered (and unfiltered) and causing the engine to run very, very lean. It's a good thing you didn't have any detonation caused by the lean condition, cause you would need more than a film canister to fix your blown engine.
