What do you guys think about soaking just the ends of the hard intake pipes in like CLR to clean the corrosion off...then using JB Weld to fix the pitted placed, just where the hoses connect. Any potential problems with this and can it hold up to antifreeze that may seep around the outer edges?

If you are talking about INTAKE (air) hard pipes... why are you concerned about ANTIFREEZE (coolant) getting in them? Two completely different systems...

Or, are you talking about the two silver-ish looking pipes that lead into the front of the motor just above the water pump? Those would be COOLANT pipes and they do not carry air.

Lol ok then, no worries. Ummm I'd imagine cleaning them up and doing some JB repair to the pitted areas would be alright. I don't see any problems with that. If it's too bad though, I'd just bit the bullet and replace them. I am very meticulous about my engine and didn't want ANY nasty corrosion, so I just replaced them.

well the corrosion is on the outside.....its not terrible for a twenty year old car.....and the wire brush got most of it off.....maybe the jb weld is overkill
