I just got a 05 g35 coupe and want an intake for my car. I was looking at the HKS one and the nismo one but they are both close to 400 dollars I'm looking for the best performance intakes so i was just wondering if those intakes are worth their price and if not what are the best intakes for g35's thanks

You're likely not going to see huge differences in power gains from one intake to another. AEM and K&N both make CAI's for the G35 as well.

JWT is a nice alternative. It's not as flashy as some of the other ones, but with the same or more gain in HP combined with the Z-tube. I love the sound from mine, and it does feel stronger. I also have the plenum spacer from motordyne, which complements the new intake track.

Not to Hi-jack this topic, but anyone experience the 'Service Engine Soon' light coming on as a result of the JWT? Mine came on a short while ago, and I had it checked by my mechanic, who said that it threw an O2 sensor code, after giving him a couple of undetermined results. He reset it for me, and it came back on just about three days later. My Coupe is an '04, with only about 43k miles. Do these engines go through O2 sensors that quick? I have heard a little bit of discussion about the possibility that the oil in the aftermarket filters can have adverse effects on sensors.

***Dennis... feel free to chime in. I know you have strong opinions about aftermarket intakes, (as well as most other issues), but I would welcome your input.***

Try having the O2 sensore replaced. It's possible it may just be faulty.

Thanks Chano... are there 2 of these? Auto Parts Warehouse shows lower left, and lower right units. (One for each side of the exhaust?)

It is the intake tube from the 350Z. The stock intake tube that comes on the G35 Coupe has noise baffles that are not on the Z Tube. No baffles=more top end engine sound at WOT.

Welcome to NICO!!

I went with JWT pop charger and a Z-tube...if you want some great info...click on the sticky post at the top of this forum that says "Modification Database"

$400.00 is aalot of cashola for an intake...and it can't possibly suck in much more air to make any sort of a difference over mine.

Just wondering if anyone owns or knows about the hks or nismo intakes and if they come with the tubing needed to install everything becuase from what i'm hearing the Z-tube is just the 350z intake tubing to the filter. So if I go with the Z-tube would i just buy the filter head part of an intake and combine it with the Z-tube. thanks

Yes... the JWT is probably the least expensive way to go, and it mates up perfectly with the Z tube. The Z tube is the same length, and diameter as the OEM intake tube, so any aftermarket intake you get will attach to it just fine. joe603 has a great photo of what the system looks like installed. It is the second post from the top: zerothread/207927

A few posts down, G_Whizz has a great write-up on mods... including information on intakes. By the way... there are some CAI systems that come with everything, from the filter to the plenum. Do some research on EverythingG35.com, Stillen, and other performance sites, and you will see the variety of intake configurations available.

Hope this answers a few questions for you!

paid 265 for my full AEM intake on EBAY..and its perfect..did it myself. The MAF sensor causes the engine light to come on and won't shut off for about 7-10 days unless you stop and start the car a lot ..maybe 20 plus times. Dont' worry about it for a week..if longer then get worried.

Thanks Nathan, but my concern is that I have already had the JWT/Ztube on the car for over 6 months. The 'Service Engine Soon' light just came on for the first time about a week ago.

One more thing you might want to check before replacing the 02 sensors. Physically check them and their wiring. Perhaps even test them with a multimeter according to the FSM's procedure. They usually last a while before they ever throw a code. I had one go out on a 240sx I owned where a wire got cut and it threw a code. Reconnecting the wire solved the problem and saved me $100. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them anyways.

So, just to clarify Chano, there are two, one for each exhaust manifold?
