Intake and exhaust will liven up your stock engine a bit, but if you really want more power I'd just buy an exhaust, at least it will transfer over no matter what route you choose to go (SR, CA, KAT, etc). Oh yeah, and use the search function please.

I just put an Injen Intake on mine and I like the sound and the extra power (it's got a little more power--you can just feel it). I plan on getting, at the least, a higher performance "Bomb" type muffler with silencer, which from what I have read, improves performance and HP's. It's all up to what you want to do! I like to play so I am doing whatever upgrades I can afford, one at a time!!

Just a muffler wont give you any preformance increases.

bigger , less restrictive , straighter exhaust piping will give you slight preformance increases , along with the rest of the things you have done...not a muffler.

Sorry--you're right--If I had said "catback" would that have made a difference? I was thinking of a 3" pipe with the "bomb"style muffler, which if the advertising is correct, allows better flow and in turn increasing HP's.

Yes because catback is piping from the cat including the muffler.

yea if your looking for reliability and with little experience intake, headers, and exhuast is your best bet. all three can be had for about $1000 and definitly give a decent gain that u can feel

if your just looking for mild increase and not too much money, i would go with intake and ignition system. the intake will help with power, thought not much. it will help throttle response and will give a throaty sound at wide open throttle.the ignition system will also help throttle response and will give you more power than an exhaust. IT will also increase your mileage and help your emmissions. check out jacobs I.C.E. pak, and MSD.thats just me. do whatever you want, but intake and ignition are very respectable first mods.

A intake and exhaust will really help. I have a jetta, added a intake, alot more power in the upper rpm's, then I added a high flow cat, and a catback exhaust. Really helped, better gas mileage also. What I dont understand is how you can get a true dyno measurment from a intake, when the car is sitting still, when the car is going, more air flows in, but that cant be measured sitting still. A good example of this happens to be the f-bodies, take a Camaro SS, and a ram-air firebird, basically the same, but the Pontiac has ram air, at higher speeds, it pulls on the Camaro. If you dont want a exhaust, at least get a intake, because it really makes a diffrence. On a RSX, CAI's make almost 20hp more.
