Went to replace the air filter yesterday, and as I lifted the cover, the intake air tube that goes between the MAF and throttle body developed a 2-3 inch split in the rubber.......of course IOS and other online Infiniti dealers do not have this in stock....and want aprox $125 for this rubber hose! anyone have any luck sealing the split with RTV, silicone, or even electrical tape? Need to drive the car,and not so sure I am excited about spending the $$$$ for a brand new one considering I am probably replacing the car next Fall.

Flex seal.... I wouldn't buy that just because of the idiot that tries to sell it. There's one I used from home depot. Forgot the name but it works better and also has a better feedback rating.

Thanks for all the ideas, and to goody90q45 for offering to send me one of his-unfortunately I need one for a traction control model, and his was for a non trac model!

I have made a temporary repair with good old fashioned electrical tape and so far so good....need to search for a used one for awhile, and hopefully dont need to pony up the $125 for a brand new one! Hate to spend all the $$$$ for new at this late stage of the game.

**** also looking for a secondary throttle position sensor if anyone has one they want to sell.

What year Q is it off of, and is it the correct size for the traction control model? How much do you want for it,shipped to Maryland?

Thanks, but too high for me to risk for a old used part that has proven to get brittle with age/use {afterall mine was 1 year newer and failed} compared to what I can get it for brand new.

for $20-25, I would consider rolling the dice.

I wonder about getting a piece of pipe made, like some of the swapped VH guys are doing, with the silicone connectors... I don't know how much it would cost but I would think it'd be pretty easy for a shop to do that with a OEM one to use as a template.

Im sure if there was enough interest, a company could make a silicone copy of the OE intake like they do for turbo cars.

Like this one for the evo lancers

if ur gonna use just electrical take i would recomend cutiing a square of plastic off a 2 liter bottle of soda making it bigger than the crack on the tube and line up the edges to the higher grooves in the intake tube then use the tape all around it. i did that because i was scared that if i floor it for any reasons the intake was gonna suck up a small piece or all the of tape and mess things up so this way the pressure is not on the crack but around it.plus the bottle shape is almost perfict to patch it when u cut the bottle hirizontally.ohh im also lookin for an intake tube but i have a 2002 q45, any got a spare
