like the title says im doing my timing belt replacement and when i was trying to remove the cam (the one all the way to the left when looking at the engine i believe passenger intake cam) it slipped and heard the valve hit the piston but i caught it at the last moment but it still hit not hard but hit. you think i bent the valves on that cam? im thinking i did very slightly. (The engine is out the car btw) any suggestions thanks....

if it didnt hit hard I doubt you bent a valve they are pretty strong.

You are fine man that happens a lot. Just make sure you time it up right and rotate it a few times by hand. Triple check the tension!

hey biggs thanks for the advice :) i just hope the valves are strong enough to not bend on an impact like that
Its not my first time doing a VG just worried about bending valves on these engines especially on my turbo motor. i also did my timing belt on my 94 J30 but that time the cam didnt spin on me while taking off the belt lol but yea hopefully like you said it will be ok. after it hit i put it back in timing and proceeded to continue to do my 120k.

Valves don't hit, it just moves the cam to a neutral position. Just make sure to reset it back the way it slipped and you'll be fine. It happened to me when I did my first belt on this motor and it scared the hell out of me.

Even if it did hit your fine. Those valves are not that soft.
