So yea exactly what it says, it moves out about 1mm but only the outer portion, this made me worry I might break the VTC internals with a puller, but I am out of options, it is on there tight, anyone have any input? Thanks.

sounds scarry, I am guessing you are in the process of changing your timing belt and one cam rotated a bit and got stuck? if it's stuck that implies that a valve is hatting a piston, forcing ti will bend the valve, you can't roll back to the origional position? did anything else get turned?

Im sorry I should have explained it better last night, I am pulling the gear off the cam, so I can remove the shaft to clean the hydraulic valve lash adjusters, it's stuck on the camshaft, thanks.

whew, thats not so bad then, it's been a while but I had mine off to do the cam seals when I did my timing belt, and I don't recall any special trouble getting them off, once the vtc was taken off might have had a little prying with a screw driver or perhaps popping it with a mallet

So it comes off in two pieces? the outer gear and the inner VTC components? Thanks.

oh you havn't pulled the vtc parts off yet? just pull the small bolts holding the cover on, thel careful wiht the seal and spring behind it, and then there si a larger centerbolt, pull it and the gear should come off with little to no effort
