So i pulled off the timing cover to find small metal shavings. I've heard of this before and if i remember correctly the guys intake cam broke off. i did a search and could not find the post. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks for reading this post and your concerns if any.

where under the cover did you find them and are they aluminum or steel shavings?

you can find out with a magnet.

If it sticks to the magnet, then you got some steel, if not, then its aluminum.

I assume you will not be even running the engine until you can investigate further right?

I had metal shavings on my exhaust side inside the timing cover.. i posted a thread about it.

Turns out i didn't have my CAS shimmed to the proper distance and the cam gear bolts were rubbing on the backside of it.

that has to be it. I have the cas installed with the timing cover off. lol. didn't even think about the shimming part.

I locked up a CAS like that and snapped the drive off the end of my exhuast cam.

If you run your CAS without the timing cover, the bolts on the cam gear will rub on the CAS causing metal shavings to come off of the bolts and CAS housing. I know from experience
