I have a 90 240 with a ka24e I am rebuilding this with basically stock parts (tight budget).

Found a butterfly assembly in the intake mani....I guess it reduces back pressure with deceleration...???

Anyway...I heard I can remove this & gain HP....if so...is it safe & how will it effect drivabilty...??

Also...there is a tube going from the exhaust mani to the intake mani....can or should I remove this & what effect does it have on the car.

*I live in Indiana where there are no E-Checks....

*if there are any other ideas on increasing output of my ka24e...please let me know....

please feel free to email me direct at [email protected]

Thanks Scot

you can do a search for emissions removal or go here:

http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10789^dont remember if that covers the butterfly removal

It doesn't cover butterfly removal, besides ka-t.org is useless.

You don't gain any hp by removing the butterflys, aka SCV's, and if you do, the high/low ignition maps in the ecu need to be modified to accomodate their removal.

Unless you are going to build a big cam, high comp NA motor, or a high boost FI motor, don't worry about it.

There is a thread on eccs.hybridka.com covering the ecu side of it, i'll post the link to it later.
