I've tried searching this so far but couldn't find the exact answer I'm looking for. Simple question though

Has anyone removed the intake piece that sucks in the air? I'm talking about the one located right under your hood attached to the top of the grille. I did this with my last car. No gains of course, but a little deeper tone. Theoretically this mod would expect gains because its taking in a hell of alot more air, but its warm air.

I've tend to stay away from intakes because it never seemed to be much of anything but a waste of money without benefits, maybe expect sound. however it makes a good supporting mod.

What about looking for a member on here selling their old intake, I was able to find an injen short ram for under 100 dollars. Dealers look past an aftermarket intake but moding the stock air box most likely would void our warranty

Well thats if they were to prove the intake caused the damage, whether it be a modded intake box or an AF intake, unless its installed by them, thus not voiding the warranty. Otherwise, all I would be doing is unbolting the box. No cutting or anything like that. Plus, had anything happen to the engine that would cause some malfunction, I'd put the air intake piece back on.

on a 2.5 you aren't going to notice a big change. i got the k&n and it sounds badass. no problem at the dealership. i see them every other month and they love my car. also, i think this will answer you question...

im not going to notice a change in sound or performance? if its performance of course i wont. I'd be lucky to get 1 hp and a glass of grape drink out of it (dave chappelle joke)

But i should notice some change in sound with an actual intake. I think there would be a slight change in sound with the air duct taken out i'd believe. Heck, it looks easy to do, I'll give it a shot. I had to double check with others on here though. Thanks for the link =)

Damn, harsh responses at first. I doubt anything will happen (knocks on wood). I drove like that with my 04 Alty for 4 years, nothing noticeable but sound, but it was a free mod anyways. I had an intake on my first car and after experience and others experiences it doesnt do much. Like i said, its good for a supporting mod.

I just sold my stock intake to a member on here, 2012NismoCoupe I think is his handle. He was planning to modify it somehow, maybe he will chime in soon.

Sick man. I like the sound, but I dont know if what I'm hearing is the exhaust over the intake so its hard to tell.

yea it's hard to tell in the video, but its mostly the intake. My exhaust is subtle, kinda sounds like a 350z/g35 with a little bit of a deeper tone. it sounds best when warming up. but like i said above, ill be recording more videos in the near future.
