Hi. Yes. Finally I have been able to complete my AI, which I am so proud of myself for (tap on shoulder), but really it wasn't a big deal, just that I am new to modding my car, so any little thing is kinda big for me, personally. I wish I knew how to post multiple pics at once, they are all on my harddrive, and it'd be great to just make one post, but oh well, here is the first one: My airfilter, which I got together with a MAF adapter for 15 bucks on ebay (quality of AF is surprisingly high, alike to K&N, although I obviously can only speak of outer appearance, but it IS cotton layered bwtween mesh, and oiled):

the engine bay looks so empty w/out the old air box...but the hole is where my windshield washer fluid tank will go (had to relocate it from passengers side, don't have pics of the relocated tank yet)

thats just me taking a pic of myself....happy and kinda drunk, because I was doing this at a friends garage while they were having a party, and AFTER i was done i let myself celebrate the birth of my AI....(polishing steel tubes and MAFS with a dremel bit = protective glasses...)

Nice Job man!!! That looks well engineered and functional. To think I payed $190 for an AEM that is no better than your custom job..... damn.

Oh yeah...total cost: $50 (plus battery relocation costs, but most peopel do that independent from intake modification)

looks great :)

i heard somewhere that the distance between the MAF and the throttle body is important. did u notice any negative effects as the pipe now looks much shorter.

Yes that dose look nice!!How dose the car feel??

I have also heard that the shorter distance might not be as good. And sense I have lots of time I might throw out a theory as to why. I don’t think its do to turbulence, but with the ECU might take into account the time it will take the air it senses to make it to the engine, making that distance shorter might make it think it has a different amount of air then it thought it had. It’s just a thought, probably not even close. But I am curious to hear more about it, as I was thinking about doing some think similar.

Hey guys, I appreciate your...appreciation, means a lot to me. I haven't noticed any negative effects, actually I think I have re-gained the low end that I lost when my muffler fell off, and also I can hear the filter sucking the air in, which kinda sounds like a turbo (maybe I am imagining most of it, but it's a whistling sound, close enough for me). I am not sure if the distance can have a negative effect on performance, especially on the MAF theory, because the MAF doe not take into account WHEN the air is goign to reach the throttle body, only how MUCH of it is present, the temperature, and (maybe?) how fast it is traveling. I'd think that the shorter the path, the faster the cold air can get to the engine (if it IS cold, if not then its just warm air). If anyone wants instructions on how I made it or stuff like that IM me. Th only thing that sucks is that I have to replace my timign chain soon, so I'll have to take off a lot of things when I do (including the filter). Anyone in upstate NY/Rochester who has done it and can help me out? I already have one guy who said he'd help, but we could always use another person :help .

That is a great install...props. I did an install with that, I used a CP Products intake and adapter, only customizing I had to do was make a bracket that fit my old airbox holes. Great work man!
