so ive been in the hospital for the past like 3 weeks cause they had to do a tracheotomy on me...it sucks...anyways havent been on for awhile but i had a quick question about an air intake...since there are no aftermarket cold air intakes would this be beneficial or not-if i have a custom intake made...basically i would throw a JWT pop charger on the ohter side of the MAF and then the piping running from the MAF to the throttle bodies i would have fabricated the exact same way only increasing the diameter of pipes...theoretically thus creating a high flow intake as opposed to a cold air intake...am i right or wrong???technically in order to create a TRUE cold air intake i would have to put the filter somewhere where it would pull in air from under the car right???lastly if i just do it my way and then fab a heat shield would that be good????i dont know everything about cars but i like to think i have a somewhat decent understanding and for what im not sure of well thats what this forum is for...yall please let me know what you think...oh and also since i already have high flow cats w/ 2 magnaflows and bigger pipes-would it work well with the intake assuming my theory about the intake is correct...the intake was going to be fabbed and installed for $300 w/ pop charger and heat shield....

also completely diff topic but i was wondering about those who have subs in the trunk....how well can u hear the bass inside the cabin since the gas tank is between the trunk and backseat...also how bad is the rattle or is there any at all/??i was offerred 2 kicker 10's in a dual box for $100 and IF i decide to get them i was wondering what type of amp i would need to power them to be able to get good sound out of them....the person who is selling them to me is suggesting a kicker 400 wattt amp that he said is bridgeable 200 x 2...i have NO CLUE what that means so i just told the guy i would think about it...well any help would be great

LASTLY THE NEX ADJUSTABLE STRUTS AND SHOCKSsince i have been in the hospital and also have been planning my wedding i have yet been able to locate a function front strut and rear shock to send to the company as samples so they can fabricate suspension for the J...if all goes according to plan they will begin to market the suspension but only by special order directly through the company...for the full set both front and rear they are asking $400 plus shipping...i will keep the forum updated as to how this goes...

I have one 10" bazooka self-powered bass tube in the trunk and it sounds great. I did, however, remove the metal panel that is behind the rear seat back going to the trunk. Probably not even neccissary.

I don't notice any rattling at all.

I have a 12" Cadence 2ohm with a 200W Kenwood mono amp and it makes my mirrors shake and I dont notice any rattle from the tank or trunk. Even from the outside.

have you heard those subs?

I'm always cautious when buying used subs. And depending on kicker sub model, a 100x2 @4ohms to a 200x2@4 ohms amp would be sufficient. Or a monoblock amp of around 400w@2 ohms if you parallel bridged the subs.

Yup, big metal plate almost all the way across the back under the rear seat back. It made some difference. You probably wouldn't need to take it out with 2 10s with a decent amp but might want to try it and see.

Keep us posted on the intake deal, I'd be interested if there's one that works. And the suspension deal, too.

intake deal is pretty simple...just find a reputable muffler shop that fabs custom exhaust for hot rods...they can do custom intake for you...theres really no way to do a real COLD AIR intake unless you want to cut a hole out somewhere or figure out a way to run the piping...however a high flow intake is very feasable...just have them do an intake exactly like the one already on the J....except in place of the air box add a cone filter(JWT pop charger, K & N, whatever)and then have them increase the diameter of the pipe after the MAF by maybe 1/2 inch to an inch at the most....then if u want to drop $300 u can get larger throttle bodies as well(from 50mm to 58mm)and all u need to do is grind them out to install...

now the suspension is definately not going to be a problem as i have spoken with the CEO from NEX Suspsension...they are known for their coilovers on acuras and hondas however he told me as soon as i send him a functioning front strut and rear shock he will begin the fabrication process...ive been told the new struts and shocks will be fully adjustable, will reduce body roll, and wont sacrifice the ride...the total cost of the full set once fabrication is done and ive tested them on these Houston streets(which if any of you have ever been here u know suck...see down here instead of fixing the crappy roads we already have we just build more...) will be between $400-$600 plus shipping which is still cheaper than OEM...however im sure that doesnt include all the rubber which you will definately want to change out as well...but like i said i will definately keep yall posted...ill know more after my wedding next week...i just havent been at it as hard as i usually am with the J ever since i had this damn tracheotomy done...it sucks cause now i have a hole the size of a quarter in my neck where my windpipe is and the only way for me to speak(and its barely even a whisper)is if i apply pressure over the bandage where the hole is so that no air comes out of the hole and goes out my mouth and nose like God designed it to u know...dont worry though hopefully after a few more weeks of this ill be back to normal and we can get the ball rolling on the suspension...the intake should only take a day to fab and install... however-K

If you get a test product on your car, let me know, I live about 30-45 minutes from Houston and would want to come see how it is.
